3 days from fes to sahara desert

Itinerary & program of

Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga.

We are going to pick up you from your hotel or riad in Fes at 8:00Am then we began our journey. You will have a stop in Ifrane, known as the “Switzerland” of Morocco to enjoy its beauty and to have memorable photos. After that, you will head toward Azrou “cedar forest” to see the monkeys.Continuing to Midelt for a lunch meal in a restaurant. After that, we will cross the pass of “Tizi N Talghamt” to arrive Errachidia in making a stop in gorges of Ziz valley.The drive continues to Erg Chebbi Dunes passing by Erfoud (famous with fossils and dates) where you may want to visit a local fossil craft workshop. After that, you will continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, Merzouga Dunes. Arriving at the hotel, and overnight there with dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Exploring Merzouga area – Cemel Trekking- Camp.

After breakfast in your riad, you will start an explorative journey of the area before your camel trek and spend the night at the desert camp. Today, you’ll visit the Gnawa people, originally slaves brought from Sudan, to experience their music and lifestyle. Not far away there’s the lake of Merzouga, with its bird populations. You may also visit the nomad wire house where many Berber handicrafts are priced lower than in the big cities. On the afternoon you will mount your camel, guided by an experienced camel man to explore within the golden sand sea of Merzouga . Dinner in front of the tent where you will spend the night. (the camp is equipped with flush-toilets).

Day 3: Merzouga – Midelt – Azrou forest – Ifrane – Fez.

Wake early to experience the once of a lifetime feat of a sitting high up on a dune in the Sahara Desert and watching a spectacular sunrise.Shortly thereafter, we return to the hotel via camel and enjoy a breakfast along with a shower before leaving the desert. We pass by the valley –Ziz- and follow that by a pass via Azrou and Midelt (middle Atlas mountains pass of Tizi Talghomt 1907m high) to Fes city. We may stop briefly in the National Forest near Azrou to see the native monkeys, if time permits.  The tour ends as we drop you off at your accommodation, all included in the price.
